GTA 5 ‘next-gen’: making a perfect game even better
September last year was a month in which many gamers locked themselves in their rooms to play Grand Theft Auto V on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Now more than a year later, you can play GTA 5 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Why would you? Because you have to, because it is the epitome of the perfect game.
A whole new game
True, the story is the exact same, so no surprises there. It was a good story though, so it’s not a punishment having to play through that again. This time you can play it (pretty much almost) all in first person mode, which is a great experience. It’s needs a bit of getting used to. Running feels a bit weird in the beginning and driving cars is a definitely harder, but shooting has never been more satisfying.
Try riding your bike with full speed through traffic, it is sensational! And thanks to the better processors inside this generation’s consoles, there is a lot more traffic to avoid.
Los Santos is a beautiful place
The graphics in GTA 5 are jaw dropping. They were impressive on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but what Rockstar has delivered now deserves an applause. Everything is in 1080p with a frame rate of 30 and a better draw distance (so you won’t all of a sudden see a tree appear in front of you). The eye for detail is even more present now, flags move, leaves fall down trees, and so on.
The before mentioned increase in traffic makes the city feel alive. You also won’t see the same cars all of the time like you would on the previous version. It’s not just the amount of traffic, you’ll also see more people in the city, and out of town you’ll run into (or run over) more animals.
Driving around you will listen to new music, Rockstar added over 100 songs to the radio stations. Gamers who have played GTA 5 before will notice there are new weapons, new race events, and a mission for Michael called Murder Mystery.
But I am boss online!
No worries, everything you achieved in GTA Online is transferable to your new game. You can just continue GTA Online where you left it, only to see it just got a lot better. This as well, will feel like you’re playing a brand new game. All these improvements make GTA 5 2014 a much better version than the old one. So even if you’ve played the game for 100 hours already, go get the upgrade!
