PS Plus free games delayed, again!
For the second time in 2 months, PlayStation has delayed the announcement of the free games for PS Plus. Last Thursday was supposed to be the day we knew what games we would get for PS Plus April 2015, but alas… still no news.
The same happened with the free games announcement of PS Plus March 2015. Rumors went that Sony is trying to line it up with Microsoft’s Xbox Gold announcement. And that way they could level, or even top that offer.
This turned out wrong, because last month’s PS Plus didn’t see any AAA games. True, OlliOlli 2 and Counter Spy are great games, but they’re not the type of game the gamers are desperately waiting for. By now there are enough AAA titles available on PS4, so why won’t any of them make it to PS Plus?
PS3 owners know, PS Plus guarantees great games in the PlayStation Store. But for the PS4 is just hasn’t happened yet. Why would Sony wait so long to give a AAA game away? Wouldn’t it boost sales? Doesn’t it make owning a PS4 more attractive?
Is PS Plus just for online games now?
On a PS3 you can play online without having PS Plus, for the PS4 you need to have the service to connect to the PlayStation Network. Hardly anyone complained about this, since you would get some great games with it anyways. But now it seems all the money just goes to online gaming.
It wouldn’t hurt too much to offer a big game like Grand Theft Auto V, or Assassin’s Creed 4. Surely, a title like Tomb Raider is ‘old’ enough to give away for free.
Sony has announced today though that Spotify is available for PlaySstation 4 now, and no PS Plus is required.
